Joy and Adventure Lists

Walking my dogs this morning, I intentionally left the phone at home so I could just be in the moment. Joining a new online Mastermind group has left me very tied to technology lately so I reveled in the time to clear my already cluttered enough head and just be mindful.

And the Universe did not disappoint.

Not intending to walk the park, but just stick to the off-leash area, my dogs had other ideas and wanted to go for a park stroll to gaze longingly at squirrels and sniff all the new smells. Minnie has had some leg trouble lately, and I didn't want to overdo it for her, but I honored their wishes and found myself holding Lizzie's leash firmly as she edged a water-filled ditch hoping for some little snack to eat. Lizzie is a terrible leash walker, and even worse, she seems to find gross snacks everywhere, her particular favorite being cat poo.

That's when I spotted a soaking wet Post-It Note lying alongside the ditch. I would be lying if I told you it's not my custom to pick up stray bits off the street. The Universe has handed me many intriguing things to ponder as I intuitively wander which is just a nice way of saying I'm slightly nosy. The Post-It note was a list of destinations, some crossed off and some not, but when I turned it over it was entitled "Alyssa and Steve's Awesome Adventure List." The note was doubled-sided no less, and I wondered how it came to be here lying abandoned, soaking wet in the park. I hoped it was not because Alyssa and Steve's adventuring had come to an end, but rather they just moved on to page 2.

It was a well-thought-out list from gelato to overnight camping to taco nights with sangria. I appreciated Alyssa and Steve's imagination. Many of the items though were just regular easy-to-do stuff with a destination attached. It made me realize that I wanted an adventure list too.

So, here is my starter adventure list. Not as destination-oriented as above, but things I've wanted to do and haven't yet.

Jane's Awesome Adventure List, Page 1

- Enjoy coffee by a bonfire on a Sunday morning

- Go to the local coffee shop to write and eat something decadent

- Sit by the lake in winter

- Peruse the local bookstore and buy something

- Try a poke bowl at the new local dive

- Buy sage to burn from a new age tea lounge

I encourage you to do one too. I had so much fun making the list and can only imagine how much fun I'm going to have adding and crossing out items.

Jobs fill your pocket, but adventures fill your soul.
